New stele in the olive orchard

Today I have news again from one of my ongoing artistic projects, the construction of a sculpture park on the grounds of our house, Villa La Rogaia, in Umbria.

Part of this sculpture park is the ArteNatura olive tree adoption program.

For the ArteNatura olive tree sponsorships I design stelae made of natural stone.  These stelae are placed next to a small olive tree planted personally for an olive tree sponsor.

The stelae I have designed are inspired by ancient Etruscan sculptures, although they do not necessarily have to be based on Etruscan motifs.

The slender stone columns, between 160 cm and 180 cm high, correspond to human dimensions and evoke thoughts of tree guardians or protective spirits. In fact, they "protect" the initially small olive trees until they are eventually overshadowed by them and find protection in their shade.

In the long term, a grove of stelae also grows within the olive grove.

The olive tree and, in this case, sculpture sponsors to a certain extent have the opportunity to incorporate their own ideas and wishes into the design of the stele for their tree.

The last stele I presented depicts an Etruscan warrior, fitting for the ice hockey team that donated the olive tree adoption and stele.

The stele I am presenting today is a bit more peaceful.

A couple wife and husband looking in the same direction, towards a shared future.

A depiction that my client had requested and that I also liked very much.

For this stele I was inspired by old Etruscan sculptures of couples reclining together at a table during a banquet.

In addition to commissioned work, I will also create stelae according to my own ideas, which will then already be installed and which you can adopt together with a freshly planted olive tree.

On one hand, this meets my desire for even more creativity, even though I really enjoy working on a stele together with each client who adopts an olive tree together with a piece of art.

On the other hand, it also helps people who are interested in an olive tree adoption but cannot really imagine what their sculpture could look like.

In this way they can simply choose a finished sculpture for their tree.
